Motorcycle Brake Caliper Parts Built for the Ride: Why We Started Apex Braking
We grew up on bikes. Back then, it wasn’t about brands or spec sheets – it was about whatever machine you could afford, firing it up, and heading out with your mates to see how much trouble you could get into.

Wire, cable ties, and a bit of hope
Half the bikes were held together with wire, cable ties, and a bit of hope. Bald tyres, sticky throttles, exhausts patched up with baked bean tins – but we didn’t care. We were out riding, racing across muddy fields, hammering old trails, and taking on corners we probably had no right to make. Then came the motorbike jousting phase. And, inevitably, the even more ridiculous flamethrower phase — with one mate perched on the back, a Super Soaker full of petrol, lighting up like some budget action movie. Stupid? Definitely. Unforgettable? Absolutely.
Even before that, it started in the garage. Walking into your grandpa’s workshop, the smell of fuel and oil hanging in the air while you helped build an engine or pass him tools – proper happy memories that stuck with you long after. That mixture of machines, smells, and time well spent was where the obsession really started.
But underneath all the chaos, it was always about freedom. That same feeling you had as a kid when you’d disappear all day with your mates, come back filthy, tired, and grinning from ear to ear – knowing you’d just had the best day out. Motorbikes gave us that same buzz. They still do.
As the years passed, the riding changed. We started heading further afield – weekends away, motorcycle touring holidays, crossing countries and continents instead of fields. Loading up panniers, tents, tools – sometimes two-up with your partner hanging on – riding proper miles, making proper memories. And suddenly, reliability mattered. You needed brakes that could slow you down fully loaded, heading off a mountain pass. You needed calipers that didn’t drag, pistons that didn’t seize, seals that didn’t let you down halfway through a 300-mile day. That’s where Apex Braking came from.
We started Apex because we wanted to build brake caliper parts that we’d happily fit to our own bikes. Precision-made pistons, seals, and rebuild kits you can rely on — whether you’re rebuilding an old favourite or keeping your touring bike ready for the next big trip.
Apex is focused on motorcycle brake calipers — it’s what we do. We ride, we build, we test. We know how important it is to trust your brakes, whether you’re out on a weekend blast or halfway through a long-haul ride. There’s a satisfaction in stripping a caliper, rebuilding it properly, and knowing everything’s spot-on again.
At the end of the day, it’s simple: reliable brake caliper parts, built by riders, for riders. No distractions, just solid parts ready for the next ride — wherever it takes you.
